Daylight Stupid Time – (almost) Wordless Wednesday

Daylight Saving Time advocates would say this guy from Arizona is an idiot for not knowing what to call it.  But then one has to realize that he doesn’t USE DST, so HE‘s the idiot⁉️  Someone’s got their priorities mixed up.

  1. We just have springtime forwards an hour, autumn back an hour for the whole UK. It’d be weird if Scotland and Wales did it differently. You could put one foot on the England side of the border and be at 5pm and one foot in Wales and be at 4pm. That’d be confusing as hell!

    1. That’s how it is with Arizona and used to be with ONE-HALF of Indiana. Only about 60 countries observe DST, mostly the US, Canada and most of Europe. The absurdity is the people like our senators from Florida who are promoting staying on DST year round, calling it Protect the Sunshine Act!! Talk about an act! I mean, WHY!?
People will just get used to getting up whenever they intend anyway. Why not just dump DST and leave it alone.
We do NOT get more sunshine in the evening; we do NOT get less on regular time! We still get the same amount of sunshine and no one on earth can “Protect the Sunshine!” Sheer idiocy. 🙄

      1. In Michigan, we’ve changed our clocks every spring and fall for a long time now. They always said it was so that the kids didn’t have to walk to school in the dark in the winter.

      2. Yeah, we were told in the 60s it was so families would have more time together in the summer evenings. But what it did was provide extra hours for families to be apart!
In any case, if it’s that important, just change the time they ring the school bell. And for the one who says, “oh, we can’t do that”??
They’re doing exactly that, just calling it a different time. 🥴

      3. 😄 And I just realized what you said about “so the kids didn’t have to walk to school in the dark.”
Actually, the winter is on UTC (formally called GMT) or “normal time” as most of the world. When we change the clocks to DST, we force everyone to get up an hour EARLIER! Keeping DST would mean kids WOULD be going to school in the dark unless they changed the start times!!
DST is just a silly idea from the get-go, like King Canute trying to stop the tides. As I have noted in blogs, if he was in our Senate, he would have just moved the high tide mark and declared, “There, I stopped the tide.” 🥴
I wish the government would just do what government is supposed to do: regulate trade, prevent and punish crime; provide for common defense, etc. Most of our laws since the late 1800s have been power-hungry legislators trying to make more decisions for free people that puts us under more and more bondage.
“Christians should be involved in the political process, and we can do much good, but we should never forget that the only government that will succeed in global reform is Christ’s government.” (Randy Alcorn, Heaven)

  2. One summer years ago, we drove through some of the Southwest United States, and we were late getting to our motel in Arizona (they were only going to hold the room until 6pm). Got to the motel just before what we thought was 6pm except that we didn’t know when we entered Arizona we also lost an hour. Yippee, we didn’t lose our room! Whew! (And shame on us for not knowing Arizona was on Standard time) I hope so that if we stop the twice a year tango we get year round Standard Time and not Daylight time. Only time (no pun intended) will tell…Alana ramblinwitham

  3. I hate the time changes. Arizona got it right. I wish the rest of us could do the same.
